Started by three wine-business friends, Banshee has quickly established a reputation for produciing impressive wine at reasonable prices. The Chardonnay from the Sonoma Coast has lively acidity and pleasing roundness. Think green apple, pear, toasted hazelnut, and dill. The Pinot Noir features a natural vibrancy and earthy character. Russian River fruit contributes black raspberry notes to this refined Pinot. Its complexity would be best highlighted by a wild mushroom risotto. The Mordecai Red Blend combines Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Carignan, and Cinsault. It recalls Rhône blends while still being distinctly California with great plush fruit.
