Deanston Dragon Milk Stout Cask Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Starting with a batch of malt that had been distilled in 2012, the team at Deanston decanted a small selection of barrels for finishing in ex-Stout casks that previously held the famous Dragon Milk Stout from New Holland Brewing (great distillers in their own right as well). The influence from the finish is apparent in the whisky with notes of spiced porridge, roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate and banana nut bread among others. A distinctive and flavorful whisky all around.

History:Distillation was brought to Scotland from Ireland by missionary monks in the 6th century. In 1644, the first taxes were imposed on Scottish distillers by England, with the result that most of the nation’s whisky was soon distilled illicitly. With the Parliament’s passing of the “Excise Act” in 1824, licensing fees for distilleries were much cheaper.
