Bourgogne Côte d'Or Rouge, Vaudoisey-Creusefond - 2021

Item # 46222 750mL

This vintage is excellent and reflects a warmth and fuller body on the palate. Half of the juice ferments in old casks giving this lithe red wine a delicious accessibility. The Bourgogne Côte d'Or appellation is a new, regional Burgundy appellation that can be looked at as the premier version of the regional appellations (ie. Bourgogne Rouge). The appellation itself can encompass Pinot Noir fruit from any of the 40 villages (a 65 km stretch) over the Côte d'Or. The yields are lower and the quality of this bottle is nothing short of delicious.

Staff Pick Notes

When I brought this bottle home I wanted to savor it to the last, ruby-hued drop. I used my wine preservation tool and poured a taste of this family-operated, Vaudoisey-Creusefond. Before I knew it I had wine key in hand and was ripping out the cork again. I had a new wine crush. With grapes coming from the villages of Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, and Auxey-Duresses, this wine is gorgeous and has an elegant purity of fruit. Ripe, red cherries, strawberries, and tart raspberries mingle with rose petals and violets. With a little time, the aromas shift gears into an earthy expression of dried tea leaves, wet stones, and forest floor. The bright freshness and ripe tannins associated with this vintage make this wine an outstanding option for apértif drinking or your favorite food pairings. Try with roasted poultry

Pinot Noir

The Burgundy region of northeastern France is the historic home of the Pinot Noir grape, and is the source of the world’s greatest examples. Here one finds renditions of Pinot Noir that deliver power with finesse and grace, wines that have unimaginable depth of flavor, yet are perfectly balanced and ephemeral in the mouth - in short, wines that deliver all that Pinot Noir has to offer. Terroir, the concept that wines from a specific region have unique and identifiable traits, is intricately...

Burgundy

The range of wine styles offered in Burgundy rivals that of any other region. In Chablis, Chardonnay is left unoaked to produce lean, crisp, steely wines with incredible acidity - a far cry from the vanilla-oak bombs that so many consumers associate with this grape. Fans of rich, unctuous, and well-oaked Chardonnay will enjoy Chassagne-Montrachet, whose age-worthy offerings offer all the fatness of a California wine, yet retain a very Burgundian, mineral-driven core and great acidity....
