Gattinara is Alto Piemonte's most well-known appellation, and its wines are built for the ages. Mario Antoniolo founded this winery in 1948, and was at helm when this vintage was made. The tannins will have faded and the flowery and intensely earthy aromas of old Nebbiolo will shine through. Decant for a few hours and serve with cinghiale and forest berry sauce.

Piedmont

The most famous grape in Piedmont is the noble Nebbiolo, which makes the long-lived Barolo and Barbaresco.
