Half-Bottle of High West Old Fashioned Barrel Finished Cocktail

The appeal of a RTD (ready-to-drink) cocktail for me is that, even though I technically could prepare one myself, I sure love the luxury of not having to! The High West Old Fashioned Barrel Finished Cocktail is a great example of the new heights of quality, elegance, and innovation in the category. They could have just thrown some bourbon, bitters, and simple in a bottle and it probably would be pretty good, but High West took it further by using both straight bourbon and straight rye whiskies, providing sweet corn and dry rye spice notes. Unrefined raw sugar and bitters are added and then the cocktail is aged in second-use rye whiskey barrels. This last step integrates the flavors and results in a complex and compelling drink that takes mere seconds for you to prepare at home.
