We've heard the phrase, 'what grows together, goes together,' and in the context of artisanal mezcal there is a longstanding tradition of creating ensambles with multiple varities of mezcal that are, like this batch, cooked togetether, co-fermented and distilled together. What you get is a wholly original creation where the unique qualities of the individual agaves converge into something that speaks even more powerfully to the expression of terroir - that pinnacle of but ever elusive element of taste. This batch is almost equal parts tropical, herbal and spicy. It is more than anything, delicious and memorable.

Staff Pick Notes

This selection of NETA was crafted by Hugo Garcia Maldonado using two different species of cultivated agave that Hugo acquired from a friend in the neighboring rancheria of El Chino. 60% Pulquero Penca Larga, 40% Mexicano Verde, this ensamble is incredibly unique and shows the brimming potential behind this young mezcalero. Full of honeydew melon, canteloupe, apples, pears, kiwi, with a soothing cucumber/eucalyptus combo that elevates the freshness of this batch. Higher acidity helps to offset some of the earthy notes on the finish and keeps it pretty clean and mineral-y. NETA's batch always have awesome signatures and character, but are typically very consistent and fun to drink, and this batch is no exception to this at all. Best grab it while you can, we're the only store in NY that is carrying this batch!
