Staff Pick Notes

The result of Italian winemaking legend Roberto di Filippi and a local Romanian producer around the Danube River delta, and made from the Moldovan-Romanian grape Babeasca Neagra, this wine truly stands as an equal among its red wine peers. Romania, like nearby Georgia and Armenia, has been recovering its wine producing history, much-neglected during the Communist brandy and bulk production years, by reviving native grapes and production styles. This wine is bright and fruit-forward and not wholly unlike better-known wines like Gamay or Pinot Noir, and smooth like Eddie Money's early discography.
