Chono

Maipo Valley, Chile “Chono” is a brand created by Geo Wines, Inc, a company founded by Sergio Reyes and Alvaro Espinoza, who are two of the most respected and innovative winemakers in Chile. They are an organization passionate about quality as well as sustainable viticulture, and are focused on handcrafted wines that express their terroir and typicity of each varietal grape. The name Chono refers to the brave indigenous people who lived in the fjords of the Chilean Patagonia in pre-hispanic times until the 18th century. They are admired by historians for their courage and skill in fishing and diving. They are the definite inspiration for the Chono wine series. “Chono” also is meant to demonstrate Chile’s most interesting terroirs. They have selected specific areas for each different grape variety to express its own individual character and complexity. As with all well-regarded winemakers, they believe great wine is born in the vineyard.
