The Astor Wines & Spirits Glossary

Entry of the Day

This Galician DO runs along the Miño River and its tributaries, stretching to the eastern edge of Rías Baixas. Some red wine is made in this region from Garnacha Tintorera (a.k.a. Alicante Bouschet), but production here is dominated by crisp white wines that are “field blends” of local varieties. The grape of primary importance in Ribeiro (which translates as “river bank”) is the white Treixadura, though Torrontés, Albariño, and several local varieties are found here as well.
