Tasting Notes

This easy Moschofilero gives fresh stone fruits, apricots, and ripe citrus. A note of rose petal with slight sweet spice finishes the profile. This classic Greek wine is delicately balanced with zip and a clean focus. Ideal with whole fish smothered in herbs.

Staff Pick Notes

If you've gotten into the world of wine the phrase "sense of place" gets thrown around a lot- referring to a wine that shows a distinct characteristic only found when grown and produced in a certain region. But aside from the academic appeal of "terroir" can it inform our day-to-day wine buying and exploration? Sure it can, particularly in the realm of food pairing. Greek white wines for instance seem to have an great affinity for seafood as the terroir here imbues many of the whites of Greece with firm acidity, a generous body or texture and a mineral backbone making them versatile for all types of fish preparations. This Moschofilero by Antonopoulos is a nice example. There's good textural depth here, vibrant acidity and flavors of the sea, along with fresh summer fruits and flowers. It's quite delicious and an incredible value.
