Practicing Organic

Wine made from grapes grown without synthetic pesticides, fertilizers and herbicides in the vineyard.

Tasting Notes

A fresh, fruity style of Rioja wine that is unoaked. Vibrant black fruits dominate and make this a great wine for anything from beef and barley soup to Merguez sausage.

Staff Pick Notes

I like making experiments in food friendly, versatile, year-round drinkable wines. The latest trial consisted of two wines and two meals. Luckily I found two winners! Winner #2 One of my favorite childhood summer activities was picking blackberries. I often ate as many as I took home because they were irresistibly ripe and juicy. Opening this bottle evoked the deliciousness of those memories. Dark and brambly with soft tannins, this organic Tempranillo does not disappoint paired with a simple meal of pork, couscous and roasted veggies. Don't rule out savory meat balls either. It's also an ideal date at a picnic or bar-b-que if an amiable and quaffable red is in order. If in doubt, drink this all the time!

Tempranillo is often used in blends with Bordeaux grapes such as...

The origin of Spanish winemaking, Rioja has been the benchmark for Spanish wines in the international market for over two hundred years, and remains so to this day. Tempranillo is the star of the red wines here, though its expression can vary wildly from producer to producer. Traditionally-styled Riojas tend to be subtle and soft, and often have high levels of acidity to ensure their survival...
