Rkatsiteli, Qvevri Wine Cellar - 2021

Here is an opportunity to experience the oldest known grape variety in the world from the oldest wine producing region (over 8000 years old)! Qvevri Wine Cellar (Nareklishvili & Son’s Winery) officially began in 2015, but the Nareklishvili family has been making wine in Kakheti since 1850. Ivane Nakerlishvili uses traditional techniques learned from his great grandfather to craft authentic qvevri-aged wines, utilizing the full stalk and bunch of grapes during fermentation in terracotta amphora. This half-year process includes the stems, skins, seeds, and juice all creating a magical elixir that tastes unlike anything else. This amber wine combines the vibrant acidity characteristic of Rkatsiteli with a gorgeous aroma of flowers in bloom, honey, dried apricots, and an umami note akin to forest mushrooms.
