Tasting Notes

A dark amber spirit full of the types of rich complex notes only a great Armagnac can possess. From the 199 vintage of this tiny family producer and aged for 20yrs in a single local Gascon Oak Cask before bottling at natural cask strength, this hits an absolute perfect balance between youth and maturity. Please note there is a typo on the label stating it was in oak for 30yrs - this is a 20yr old brandy.

Staff Pick Notes

You may have noticed that we here at Astor Wines & Spirits are big fans of Armagnac. I may sound like a broken record by extolling its virtues yet again, but it's a story worth repeating. This is a spirit that is deeply connected to the land from which it comes: the grapes are local varieties, the barrels are made from local forests, and the distilleries are small, family run operations (sometimes just one man with a chai at the back of his house). Not to mention that single-vintage bottles with extensive barrel aging won't empty your pockets. Laterrade's latest bottling is a prime example. Distilled in 1999 and aged for 19 years at just north of a Benjamin. This is a classic Armagnac in all its perfection. Aromas of toffee, dried fruit, baking spices, and oak hint at what's to come. Intense yet rounded with a long finish—it's the perfect
