Real Minero Astor Batch Sierrudo Mezcal - 2018

The second in a trilogy of exclusive batch selections we made at this historic palenque earlier in January may by some measures be the rarest. If you've come across enough traditional mezcals, you've likely noticed that they almost always tend to improve with age (not in oak, but resting in glass). Sierrudo as an agave is already rare enough, with very tiny yields, but to make this batch, agaves that had grown for a minimum of 20yrs were hand harvested in 2018 from the Central Valleys and double pot distilled in direct fire clay pots, the tradition of the distillery. After that, the spirit was kept at still strength and aged in glass demijohn for 3yrs and 7 months prior to bottling. the total yield for this entire batch was an unbelievable 14 liters!!!
