Tasting Notes

The Premier Cru vine site of "Les Combottes" is surrounded by some spectacular Grand Cru sites. This Gevrey shows finesse with aromas of rose hips, violets, and dark cherries. As sophisticated as they come.

Staff Pick Notes

This wine has everything I love about excellent red Burgundy: gorgeous floral aromas featuring roses and violets, a lithe and fresh feel on the palate, and an overall finesse and elegance you have to taste to appreciate. Lignier is known for his superb fruit on Grand Cru vineyard sites and his attention to detail in the vineyard contributes to his beautiful wines. This Les Combottes in Gevrey Chambertain is not an overly aggressive brute of a wine like you can often find in this region. I encourage you to enjoy it tonight with veal goulash.
