Grape Variety

Tasting Notes

A charming, older vintage from Dom. Economou. Still full of vibrant red fruit that reminds us of Pinot Noir. The wine is made from 80-90 year old ungrafted vines and the wine spends 36 months in barrel. Drinking beautifully today, this would make a fine match for roasted duck breast.

Staff Pick Notes

Yiannis Economou is the soul of the Economou estate. Serving as both farmer and winemaker, for decades his wines have been some of the most sought-after from Greece. If you're looking for natural wine, this is about as natural as it gets. His domain is a mere 16 hectares of mostly ungrafted, 35-70 year-old vines. Domaine Economou’s red Sitia cuvées are made predominately from the a clone of the local grape, Liatiko, unique to Crete and the Mediterranean. Yiannis applies a gentle hand in winemaking, adding very little sulfur. These wines sparkle with elegance and benefit from years in the Economou cellar. Keep for a few more years, or enjoy right now.
