Muscat Impassitu, Marie-Charlotte Pinelli - 2019

Item # 46966 500mL

Muscat vines planted in 2001 were the beginning of Marie-Charlotte's winemaking. The grapes in this unctuous dessert wine were allowed to partially dry out before harvest. Aged in stainless steel, this has aromas of stone fruits, white flowers, and honey. Pair this sweet white with chestnut flour beignets stuffed with cheese.

Staff Pick Notes

Marie-Charlotte Pinelli is a rockstar winemaker in my books. When her father took over a small parcel of Muscat, which was planted in 2001, she made the decision to leave her studies of architecture in Paris, move back to Corsica and help her father vinify their first wine. This was is in 2015. She was 19 years old. All wines are fermented naturally, without enzymes, fining, or anything she deems as detrimental to the wine. She is also a believer in “traditional work”, so all grapes are harvested by hand after trying on the vine for her Muscat Impassitu. A slow 24-hour pressing extracts the miniscule amount of juice A rich and luscious wine with notes of mandarin, peach, apricot, honeysuckle, caramel and dried jasmine. Perfect with a peach crostata or soft, funky cheeses.
