Hayman's Old Tom Gin

In the classic sense the Old Tom Gin is a style that contrasts with London Dry which is represented by the big gin brands like Tanqueray and Bombay. There was a time when alcohol production in England was not regulated and so you were just as likely to find turpentine or rubbing alcohol in you gin as you might find locally sourced botanicals in your Brooklyn made Gin of today. So producers added sweeteners to mask their more unsavory additives. During the recent cocktail revival movement there were calls to bring back this Old Tom style of gin and Hayman's were more than happy to oblige. Hayman's is a 5th generation family distiller, and they were able to look into their archives for a classic recipe. The Juniper is clear but it melds nicely with Coriander, Angelica Root and Citrus to make a wonderful gin perfect for cocktails.
