Like all the other great things associated with this state, this bourbon is big and bold with a no-fuss attitude. It also has an amazing pedigree. Made entirely from local #1 Panhandle White Corn from a single harvest and aged for a minimum of two years, this straight bourbon shows notes ranging from cashews, peanut shell, salted butter, golden apples, roasted coffee, baking spice, sawdust, and more. Really impressive and easy to love. There is loads happening here with a ton of potential. Proudly carrying the Lone Star banner, these folks are set to be stars of the whiskey world for a long time.

Are you a fan of wheated Bourbon? If so, then this fantastic small batch spirit from the first legal distillery in Texas should be on your short list. The Garrison Brothers Bourbon mash bill includes 15% red winter wheat grown right on the ranch in Hye, Texas where the spirit is also made. The white corn is from the lone star state as well, but grown a bit closer to San Antonio. A bit of malted barley (11%) rounds out the flavor profile. The intense Texas heat significantly affects the flavor of this spirit during the maturation process, but without that rattlesnake bite you might expect from some Bourbons. This is dark and rich, with just a touch of bitterness (think dark chocolate) that lingers memorably on the palate. This is definitely worth sipping neat, but don't be shy about trying it in your favorite whiskey cocktail either.
