Tasting Notes

A full-bodied dry red wine made from the Vranac - one of the most prominently planted grapes in southeastern Europe. Closely related to the Primitivo grape and showing similar generous fruit on the palate yet distinct.

Staff Pick Notes

Vibrant, full-toned, plush. This is a hospitable red wine from Herzegovina. It's the southern half of the country that generally gets omitted from the name, but it’s equal in historical importance. People in the south are characterized as hard working, and their sunny, dry land along the Neretva river is ideal for wine making. Citluk is the name of both the winery and the town it resides in. It’s the largest producer in the region with more than 300 hectares of vines. This Vranac is brimming with notes of sweet red plums, dried herbs, and dark figs. It has a rounded quality on the palate and fits squarely in the same company as Plavac and Zinfandel. A great wine pairing for barbecue in general, but perhaps best of all would be grilled cevapi with onions and ajvar.
