If your taste buds can handle the fragrant and flavorful intensity offered up in rums from the tropical island, then you'll no doubt be delighted by Transcontinental Rum Line's latest release from Fiji. The rum category has really expanded over the last few years with no shortage of unique bottlings. This is sort of like the senior seminar in what funky styles have to offer: Buttered toast, burnt sugar, ripe grilled plantains, and plastic pool toys burst forth from the bottle. With its cask strength ABV, this could definitely benefit from a few drops of water, but experiment with whatever works best for you. If this bottle is an education in what funky rums have to offer then your course professors might be the Ohio Players, Prince, or Rick James. Sign me up for class & bring on the funk!
