Pošip, Skaramuca - 2025

If you're looking for winemaking tradition without traditional prices, look no further than Croatia. Croatia has been producing wine for almost 2,400 years and is home to ~140 indigenous grapes, including the nation’s most celebrated white variety, Pošip. Pošip (pronounced “Poe-ship”), a pholloxera resistant variety now grown all over the Dalmatian coast, is at its best in the hands of the Skaramuca family on the rugged island of Korcula. The Skaramuca family began making wine in 1992, shortly after the fall of the former Yugoslavia when the country’s economy was in shambles, and has single handedly put both the the country and variety on the international radar. It’s easy to see why when you open this bottle: aromas of melon and dried herbs give way to a salty, mineraly palate that's perfect with seafood and a full wallet.
