Tasting Notes
Long on elegance and finesse, with fine ripe fruit and soft tannins, this is 100% Blaufränkisch. This intense red shows immense black pepper spice, black currant aromas, and satiny structure.

Staff Pick Notes
If you’re reading this staff pick in the store, you are standing in the rough divide of “Old World” and “New World” wines at Astor. For the Markowitsch Blaufränkisch this placement is as much stylistic as it is physical. New World warmth, ripeness and friendly fruit crosshatched with Old World restraint, elegance and spice. I can’t think of an occasion when it’s not appropriate to pull the cork on this bottle. It's flexible, friendly, thoroughly unpretentious and deeply satisfying.
