Staff Pick Notes

So I always wondered: why do so many German winery/winemaker names start with "Doctor"? Seems that back in the day, if you weren't an aristocrat or a military man in Germany, one had to get a title to flex one's social status through studying, and it is the abundance of PHDs in the Loosen family's lineage which inspired the historic Mosel River vineyard's name. I was actually initially drawn to this bottle's dark teal tinted glass, something attractive and unusual to pull me in. What I got when I opened it truly exceeded my expectations: a delicious, inexpensive, easy-going riesling full of flavor. Fruit-forward without being too juicy, lovely notes of grapefruit and lime give way to a nice mineral finish. An ideal choice for oysters, spicy stir fry, or to kick off your next gathering.
