Broadbent, 10 Year Sercial Madeira

Item # 31549 750mL

Sercial Madeira is the driest of these sweet wines. So, although it's still sweet, it just isn't nearly as sweet as, say, a Malmsey Madeira. This is a mouthwatering Madeira that is a complex of citrus, spice, and tangy minerals. Such a pleasure to drink and the only wine that you can open and drink for years to come.

Staff Pick Notes

I dream in the color of this Madeira. This dry Sercial is pure gold. Nutty and clean, with notes of baking spice and honey. High in acid and toting an elegant mouth feel, this wine would make for an absolute ideal digestive. Another plus is this bottle's ability to last forever. Once you pop the top go ahead and put it on your shelf and don't give it a second thought (HA! Yeah right, like you would ever be able to brush this majestic juice out of your memory reel). Grab a block of Manchego, and a glass of this Broadbent, 10 Year Sercial and get down with your bad self.

Originally known for rough and ready, tart, high-pitched wines, the cool climate and rain-bearing westerly winds keeps this area cool and damp. This...

Glossary

Portugal

The Dão and the Douro are the most important regions as far as red Portuguese table wine is concerned. Douro wines tend to be a bit fuller and fleshier than their Dão counterparts, which are generally lighter and higher in acidity. Reds from both regions are dense, rustic, and well-balanced. They also show their terroir quite clearly, and represent a great alternative to the modern fruit-driven style. Vinho Verde is Portugal’s most famous white wine. Literally translated as "green wine," it...
