Single parcel bottlings have become essential at Chartogne-Taillet. Les Couarres is Pinot Noir from vines planted in 1982. Aged in used barrique and concrete eggs and aged sur latte for 4 years. After a stint at Selosse, Alexandre Chartogne-Taillet returned to his home in Merfy in 2006 and has since become a voice of reason for small growers willing to do the work in the vineyards. The wines are aged in wood, the yeasts are ambient and yes, there are horses and animals on his property allowing for a diversity that is profound.
