Teroldego "Lezèr," Foradori - 2021

Item # 40471 750mL

Teroldego made with a short, less than 24 hour, maceration giving good color yet not quite a dark red wine. Lively on the palate, a vin de soif, meaning it's a wine that simply quenches your thirst with lively fruit, some tannins and all around accessiblity. Lezèr means light in the local dialect.

Staff Pick Notes

For years, Elisabetta Foradori (the "Queen of Teroldego") had been sharing much of the enological duties with her 3 children. The junior generation had been coaxing their mom to vinify a short maceration, light-bodied red, fashionable with the younger wine drinkers. 2017 was a difficult year at the estate as hailstorms ruined 40% of the vines. But sometimes adversity has benefits. The kids managed to salvage the juice of damaged vines and decided to experiment. Lezer was born and has been bottled in each vintage since. As with all Foradori wines, Lezer is made with grapes that are grown biodynamically. The soils are alluvial and gravel and the vines are 35 years old. The wine smells of fresh berries and plums. The palate is soft, clear, and as easy as fruit punch. The light body allows the fresh acidity and minerality to sparkle.
