Staff Pick Notes

The producer of this wine, Peio Espil, served in the Peace Corp in Africa before studying winemaking. He eventually returned to his hometown to work with his father on the family domaine. These days, all of his wine is organic. The vineyards are situated not so far from the sea and this factor, in addition to the warm winds coming from the south, create a perfect vine-growing environment. This wine is a blend of Tannat, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. It shows dark cherry flavors and spices followed by a good amount of tannins. The flavors imparted through oak aging are very well integrated with the fruit aspect of the wine, creating balance. Excellent!

Today, Cabernet Sauvignon has a...
