Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese, Schömann - 2017

Item # 41041 1.5L

A magnum bottle of Riesling you could age for years to come. There are many Sonnenuhr vine sites but this comes from the town of Zeltingen. This is a delicious Riesling that was fermented in steel and then aged in old wooden casks giving complexity that you cannot otherwise replicate. The dash of sweetness balances the acidity just right.

Staff Pick Notes

Certain occasions demand a larger than average bottle of wine. The end of this annus horribilus is certainly something to celebrate. It is lower in alcohol, so it is the perfect magnum for the solitary holidays. Yes, this wine can age for many years to come, but I’m not going to wait. This is a perfect pairing for just about any holiday spread. Rich and perfumed with stone fruits, a hint of petrol, and sweet spices— you are going to love drinking this bottle with your Julebord for one.

They are careful to retain the delightful honeyed, flinty flavors that the best sweet Rieslings have always displayed. Alsace, of...
