A luscious Cru Beaujolais from the village of Chénas. The Gamay vines are over 40 years in age. While the fermentation was done in steel tanks, the aging was in large old oak barrels (228L) for 9 to 10 months.

Staff Pick Notes

This is a more muscular version of Beaujolais compared to the traditional wine produced in this area. The producers are more famous for the production of their Chardonnay up north close to Cote d'Or, but they brought to Beaujolais their knowledge and experience in wine making creating this wonderful wine. Chenas was previously known for making average wines but lately, also because the great job of the producers of "La Soeur Cadette, the quality level is much higher. The vines are old and enjoy a lot of sun exposure, while the night are cool. You can still enjoy the fruity notes typical of Gamay, red fruit and wild flowers, but, at the same time, you will appreciate more minerality, chewy tannins and concentration. This wine is bottled unfitered.
