Staff Pick Notes

Among all white grapes, Riesling is one that most benefits from and most needs age. I personally find the wines don't come into their own until around 5 years, and I've had bottles of both dry and off-dry Riesling with decades of age that tasted fresh, distinctive, and lovely. This bottle is a great example of why. Already showing the amazing petrol, mineral, smoky flavors that make aged Riesling great, balanced with the richer grapefruit, and citrus aromas of a classic Pfalz white. A dry style with great acidity and some time in neutral cask, it surely has even a few more years ahead of it, but I enjoyed it just the other night with some Korean fried chicken and zucchini fritters and it was sublime.

They are careful to retain the delightful honeyed, flinty flavors that the best sweet Rieslings have always displayed. Alsace, of...
