Staff Pick Notes

This impressive Cabernet Franc with an opulent nature makes for a unique expression of the French grape. Aged for 1.5 years in French oak barrels, this vintage rates better than any other year for this wine. The grape is growing in popularity now elsewhere in the world, with limited plantings scattered across the globe. The firm tannins and acidity are typically softer than what one finds in Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep violet in the glass, this complex and robust wine has a nose of leather, tobacco cassis, and anisette. An exploding palate of turf, black fruits, and chocolate with oaky notes, fennel bulb, and lavender. A gentle, long finish of soft, warmer notes like sage and mint. I close my eyes and imagine myself in Istanbul when I enjoy it with roasted lamb, steaks, and strong cheeses. Lovely!
