Staff Pick Notes

Everyone has their daily or weekly routine. Habits die hard after all (at least that's what five films featuring Bruce Willis taught me). My habit of purchasing Bloomer Creek is a dangerous one but I would say it's been very rewarding. This skin contact, single vineyard Riesling from the "artists" of the Finger Lakes presents aromas of peaches, fleshy pineapple, allspice, and tangerine, while the classic petrol note provides some contrast. On the palate, it's a lighter yet textural affair full of ginger, honey, and clove. The more restrained use of skin contact gives just a hint of that "funk" people love. It feels pristine with good complexity for how youthful the grapes seem to be, a scintillating affair for sure! Bloomer Creek's yearly habit of making dazzling wines is one I appreciate.

They are careful to retain the delightful honeyed, flinty flavors that the best sweet Rieslings have always displayed. Alsace, of...
