Mauzac Noir, Plageoles - 2019

Item # 45165 750mL

Domaine Plageoles is one of the few estates who have studied the ancient varieties in the Gaillac. The soils are a mix of clay, limestone, sand and silex. This red wine is full of character, fruity, tannic and alive on the palate. Enjoy with seared duck breast.

Glossary

Mauzac

Though unknown to most US consumers, this white grape is considered an essential part of winemaking in southwest France, particularly in the regions of Gaillac and Limoux. Here, the sparkling wines (often blends of Mauzac and other white grapes) are made by the rustic méthode ancestrale; they're sometimes sweet, and always a pleasure before dinner or with shellfish.
