Santa Teresa 1796 results from a careful blend of their finest aged spirits that is further aged in a style borrowed from the Spanish sherry producers. It is the first premium añejo rum in the world to be aged in the Solera method, which is unique to the entire rum world.

When I crave a sipping rum that is drier than most and not sugary-sweet on the palate, I reach for this. Don't get me wrong here, though: rich aromas of molasses, caramel, vanilla bean, coffee, allspice, apple, cherries, and banana invite you back again and again.
Santa Teresa utilizes a solera method of aging with a mother rum of at least 25 years to blend together vibrant and mature rums. The result is a consistent sipping rum with all the the right stuff: complexity, flexibility (in terms of pairing options, e.g., cigars, chocolate...), and the cost to the consumer.
I enjoy rum from many places, but this is a solid pick I will always have in my bar.
