Tasting Notes

Made at the historic, "El Llano," distillery in the cradle of the Tequila producing region, Arette is one of the few brands still made in the town of Tequila itself, just outside of the regional capital of Guadalajara. Produced by the Orendain brothers, themselves descendants of one of the country's most acclaimed and long lived tequila families the Arette tequilas are known for their exceptional quality and nearly unbeatable value. The spirit is impeccable with a polish that typically eludes this price point with notes that include lime zest, banana peel, white pepper, dried oregano, avocado leaf and minerals. This is top shelf stuff at bargain pricing. Deserves a spot on every bar.

Staff Pick Notes

Don't be afraid. This is the real deal tequila. From fifth generation tequila makers comes Arette Blanco Tequila, a great-tasting value, perfect for both sipping and mixing. Brothers Eduardo and Jaime Orendain have been making tequila from estate-grown blue agave since 1976. Eduardo used to be the mayor of the town of Tequila. The nose is aromatic and fresh, with that classic citrus and green herb that almost make a lime superfluous. Almost. Serve slightly chilled neat, or as component in a classic margarita. This would also be perfect for a cucumber-infused pepino margarita, with the citrus and green vegetal elements melding perfectly with fresh cucumber.
