Tasting Notes

With lively bubbles, extreme finesse and a nose of baked apple spice, this fine non-vintage Champagne teases the senses and tickles your fancy. A brilliant robe unveils toasty, grilled bread; vibrant acidity streaks through an ample palate that is remarkably expressive. This Champagne is 80% Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Staff Pick Notes

This Champagne reminds me of Charles Heidsieck, Brut NV. And for good reason! Fleury uses a good proportion of older base wines in their blend, just like Champagne Charlie... This wine's rich, creamy palate and tight, lean acidity are thanks to several years' worth of lees aging and then even more in bottle. It also has some of the finest mousse I've seen on a NV Brut. Don't think twice on this one and dive right in. This is spectacular Champagne for the price.

In the 1970s,...

Terroir,...

Champagne

Champagne is finally getting the recognition it deserves as a brilliant food wine. For consistency and quality, turn to the big Champagne brands and you’ll never go wrong. Remember that “Non-Vintage” (NV) is not a dirty word here: NV Champagnes are blends of wines from the best growing seasons. But if you can find one, try a Champagne made by a Grower-Producer. These winemakers control every...

Chardonnay

From Champagne to Chablis, it's hard (not to mention unpleasant) to avoid this famous white variety. During a huge popularity surge beginning in the late 1980s, Chardonnay plantings have increased dramatically -- not only in California's wine country, with which the variety is nearly synonymous, but also in Burgundy (its original, Old World home) and just about everywhere else in the winemaking...
