Kepos is a red blend made just off of the Tuscan coast in the Ampeleia di Sotto which boasts an elevation of 200 meters asl in Maremma. This is a purely Mediterranean wine in character with aromas of ferns, red fruits and a strong mineral character that's meant for a great feast.

This wine is a great blend made of Grenache, in this case called Alicante Nero, Mourvedre, and Carignano. These varieties are co-fermented. The vineyards lie not so far from Mar Tirreno and still at a good elevation. The days here in Tuscany are hot but the sea breeze and the slight elevation contribute to the freshness of this wine. In addition, the vines are biodynamically grown. It's a very well structured wine with aromas of violet and orange peel and flavors of red berries and dried herbs. Everything is well balanced and supported by a great acidity and a pleasant earthy finish. Medium in body, in my opinion this is a great everyday wine!

Mourvèdre

Known as Mataro in California and Monastrell in Spain, Mourvèdre can produce bold, tannic, highly alcoholic red wines. They usually show no shortage of fruit as well, and the best examples keep it all in perfect balance. Rhône-style blends are cropping up all over the world, and one of the classic tried-and-true combinations is "GSM," or Grenache-Syrah-Mourvèdre. Carignan

Grown all over Europe and the Americas, Carignan (a.k.a. Carignane, Carignano, and Cariñena) is seldom seen as a 100% varietal wine.
