Yakut, Kavaklidere

From the Kavaklidere Winery in eastern Anatolia, near the Euphrates River, where grapes have been cultivated since 4000, BC. Öküzgözü and Bogazkere are the native grape varietals. Really yummy and dry, with tons of cherry fruit and a nice vanilla note. Easy-drinking red table wine, vibrant and balanced. I took a bottle of Yakut home and it washed down a pan-seared NY strip steak and roasted Brussels sprouts nicely! Also paired nicely with salty aged goat cheese and a firm Danish Blue.
