NegroAmaro Salento, Angiuli - 2024

Angiuli Winery dates back to 1880, and for nearly 150 years they have lived and worked by their philosophy that nature and landscape must be respected. There is a strong focus on cultivating local vines with respect to the soil and microclimate of Apulia in south Italy. Negroamaro is a Puglian grape variety with its name deriving from a local dialectal expression 'niuru maru' or 'very black,' which references the deep color of both the grapes and the wine itself. Despite a deep color and hot Mediterranean climate, this wine steers clear of becoming overtly full or "jammy." Instead open this bottle and enjoy well integrated sandy tannins, balanced acidity, and of course plenty of dark fruit such as cooked blackberry and even blueberry. Enjoy with lamb chops with plenty of Mediterranean herbs.
