Plantation Belize XO Astor Exclusive Rum

Belize has a rich history with rum. However, production is minimal, and rum from this sunny locale is only now available to us. Bottled as a single cask that was finished in a Cognac Ferrand Pineau des Charentes cask, the naturally fresh character of the rum is elevated by the richness of the cask. The burnished copper color speaks to the extended age of the spirit. The exquisite aromas and flavors range from coconut milk to roasted hazelnut, milk chocolate to papaya, fresh nutmeg to grape candy. The palate is silky, easy-drinking, and dry. After some time in the glass, the rum turns more tropical and exotic while maintaining a spicy core.

We have, for the first time ever, rum from Belize! I like to get carried away with descriptors sometimes because it entertains me: Rich aromas of a tropical breeze laced with hints of coconut, exotic ripe fruit, and honey. Other influencing factors, like the barrels for aging, contribute notes of cinnamon, caramelized wood sugars, and the Pineau de Charente cask. This unique offering should not be missed! A single barrel with an additional cask enhancing is not only rare but certainly unlike anything you may currently have or anything at a friend's bar, for that matter.
