Arnot-Roberts Syrah "Clary Ranch" Sonoma - 2022

750 mL
Item # 34731

The Clary Ranch vineyard benefits from the cool winds coming off the Pacific and racing down the Petaluma Wind Gap. The wine comes out elegant and complex with bright acidity and low alcohol. It's a brilliant take on old-world Rhone masters that is entirely unique in the hands of these innovative producers.

Staff Pick Notes

I was lucky enough to swing by Arnot-Roberts tasting room in Healdsburg recently and while I want to say it is hard to pick a favorite wine from the tasting that would be a lie, nothing could compare to this gem. A depth of complexity reminiscent of Rhone styles but showcasing the beauty of the region and the cool climate of the vineyard, this Syrah feels like the perfect bridge between two worlds. With a 12% ABV this wine is light on its toes but still packed with so many layers it is hard to express. Brilliant aromatics, bright acidity from the high wind and cooler climate vineyard, and layers of that classic Syrah spice will have you begging for another sip. Perfect for almost any occasion, and honestly a stellar wine to enjoy even on a 100+ degree day (I can guarantee that).

Let it never be said, however, that Shiraz and Syrah are the same thing: the region in which the grape is grown determines much about the flavor of the wine it will produce. Typically, New World Shiraz yields bigger, fruitier wines than the the peppery Syrahs...
