The Chateau Marquis Calon is the second label of the famous St Estephe Appellation, Chateau Calon Segur (third growth from the 1855 classification) Located in the northernmost appellation of the Medoc, the village of St. Estephe has a heavy clay soil compared to the other Medoc appellations. If you are looking for a dense, full body, warm and velvety Bordeaux, this is for you! Using a bit more of the Merlot grape than expected, this wine is made to be drunk young, but I recommend a few years in the cellar to give it a more rounded and elegant palate. Will pair well with beef fillet in a garlic sauce.
