Vin Rosé, Clos du Tue-Boeuf - 2022

Item # 36612 750mL

The blend of the Vin Rosé is always Gamay-based. It's a saignée off of a short carbonic maceration of whole clusters. Fermentation is spontaneous. The wine goes through malolactic fermentation and is then aged briefly in tank before bottling.

Staff Pick Notes

When it comes to drinking rosé, What can I say? I like it lush. This Grolleau & Gamay blend is super-small in production, but year after year, it never disappoints. Juicy, but not too high in acidity, this wine has voluptuous texture and really coats the palate. It almost begs you to drink more! The lieu-dit "le Tue-Boeuf" (lieu-dit is a fancy term for a geographical area whose name refers to a characteristic of the place, its former use, or a past event) has a long history in the Loire valley, and the Puzelat family does an amazing job of working the vines here! This rosé is structured enough to pair beautifully with a salad of mixed greens, farro, beef and guacamole. If there was more of this wine to go around, I would list ALL of my successful food experiments...

Glossary

Loire

There’s a lot to remember when it comes to the Loire. Novices, take note: Cabernet Franc is a great alternative to Cabernet Sauvignon, Muscadet is unparalleled as a companion to shellfish, and Cour Cheverny is the best white wine appellation you’ve never heard of. As diverse as Loire wines are, one day soon you'll know your Melon de Bourgogne from your Romorantin.
