Bladnoch 17yr Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Item # 45229 750mL

One of the quintessential Lowland distillers of Scotland, this older expression from Bladnoch started from spirit distilled in 2001 and initially aged in ex-Bourbon barrels prior to being decanted into ex-California Red Wine Casks for finishing. Distilled from local Scottish Barley and proofed with local water from the River Bladnoch, this limited release was aged for seventeen years prior to bottling.

Staff Pick Notes

Rich, toasty, earthy, candied, and, above all, liquid silk. This 17-year single malt, from a distiller you may not know, packs a lot of punch. The production itself is extraordinary. Pristine water from the Bladnoch river is malted with locally grown barley. After fermentation and distillation, the liquid was filled in ex-bourbon casks, aged for a decade and three quarters, disgorged, and then re-filled in ex red wine casks. That workmanship gives this Scotch an incredible, silken texture on the palate with notes of spiced orange, honey, red wheat, and macadamia. The color is translucent mahogany. Gift this to yourself.
