Tannat is the main grape planted in Uruguay. Originally from France, like Malbec, it found its fortune in South America. It's a a bold wine made without added sulfites and fermented with wild yeasts. It's an unoaked wine, aromatic, with intense aromas of dark fruit, such as blackberry and plum. On the palate rose petals, cherries and a strong minerality are noticeable. The strong tannins are well balanced with the alcohol. I find this wine harmonious and well balanced. I also like its earthiness, somehow it's elegant and rustic at the same time. I would pair it with red meat or I would enjoy it at a barbecue.
