Staff Pick Notes

One of the true rarities of the Piedmont, Pelaverga produces some of the most elegant yet intensely aromatic red wines of the region. North of the Barolo commune, the village of Verduno has its own DOC for this very grape; and Michele Reverdito’s is made using the prized Pelaverga Piccolo variety! The Reverdito Winery began in 2000, but Michele’s father Silvano began acquiring vineyards back in the 1960s around La Morra. Michele has used his knowledge of literally growing up in the vineyards into crafting some delicious wines, including a range of Barolos. Without the use of invasive chemicals, strictly hand harvesting each bunch, and fermenting in stainless steel, Michele truly preserves the freshness of this wine. Pink peppercorns, wild strawberries, and floral tones nearly jump out of the glass in this gorgeous Pelaverga!
