Mars Astor Select Tsunuki Yakushima Aged Single Cask Japanese Whisky - 2017

What more could we possibly ask for from our first single cask bottling from this iconic A single vintage distilled and filled in June 2017, made from lightly peated malt at the Mars' family southern Tsunuki distillery in Kagoshima - then transferred to the mythical southern island of Yakushima to age in an ex-bourbon barrel. Aged for over 6yrs, pushing the limit on the older current releases from Mars, and bottled in September 2023 at a natural cask strength of 61% abv. Each sip is like the best of Islay malts a la Lagavulin, with more of a tropical edge, salted butter and deep mouthwatering burst of chocolate and spices on the big lingering finish. In regards to quality, value and distinctiveness this is without a doubt the among the absolute best Japanese Whisky available.
