Amaro Formidable

If you’re a fan of amari, you know that picking an amaro can be a gamble. Not so with Amaro Formidabile, a beautifully balanced, limited production amaro from the Pallini Group. Pallini was established in 1875 by Nicola Pallini in Antrodoco, a small village in central Italy, before moving to its current home in Rome where the group makes everything from sambuca to specialty fruit syrups. While the other mass-produced products are available globally via Duty Free, the hard-to-find amaro is the brainchild of liquerist Armando Bomba, who infuses 11 different herbs and botanicals (including red cinchona, Chinese rhubarb, Damask rose petals, wormwood, gentian, bitter orange peel, among others) into wheat liquor via cold maceration. The result is a liqeur with aromas of clove and wormwood that give way to a balanced, bittersweet palate.
