Burgundian-style Chardonnay from southern California. The family started a farming tradition by growing vegetables in 1948 and eventually founded a winery in 1986. A great nose and flavors of lemon oil, custard, and orange blossom with a racy minerality.

Staff Pick Notes

Not the big, fat butterball many of you are expecting, and not pretentiously trying to make Burgundy in California, either. Rather, here you have a wine that wishes to sing the virtues of California and its beautiful terroir with out over- or under- "coaching" the wine. There is a bit of creaminess, but appropriately so, a bit of tropical fruit (this is Chardonnay, after all), and there is a bright, focused acidity and minerality that make food paring easy and another sip irresistible.
